PALMER TWP., Pa. – Police in Palmer Township, Northampton County are accusing a man of choking and punching his girlfriend while he was driving.

Police are looking for Derrick Charles Furman, 34, who is charged with strangulation, simple assault, harassment, and driving while having a suspended or revoked driver’s license, according to a news release from the Palmer Township Police Department.

A township police officer was conducting a business check, when he saw a woman running away from a vehicle near an intersection shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.

The woman told the officer she was choked and punched by her boyfriend, inside their vehicle as he was driving, according to township police.

Township police said the woman had visible injuries to her face and arms.

Furman is described as having black hair and brown eyes, and being 5-foot-10 and weighing 160 pounds.
