GECAC

GECAC has recently received nearly $165,000 in order to launch a workforce development initiative. This initiative aims at preparing individuals for employment barriers that they may encounter in the plastics manufacturing industry.

The grant comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development’s Manufacturing Training to Career Grant program.

Several partners will collaborate in the program to help participants focus on job-readiness, soft skills training, and hands-on industry instruction. Within the program a job fair will be available to participants who will be able to connect with employers.

“This program creates a pathway for individuals who may not yet be ready for traditional pre-apprenticeships but have the potential to succeed in manufacturing careers,” said Marybelle Martin, GECAC’s Workforce Director.

Training classes will begin in April allowing for up to 40 participants to partake in the program. Graduates of the program will be able to pursue entry level jobs. These jobs can provide clear pathways for further career development.
