OBITUARY

Carlo J. Celli, 93, a lifelong Peckville resident, passed away March 13, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 56 years, Silvia Urban Celli passed away October 25, 2019. Born in Peckville, he was the son of the late Primo and Elvira Aldini Celli.

He was a graduate of Blakely High School, Class of 1951 and received a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Scranton. He was a standout football player at Blakely High School and the University of Scranton. A US Army veteran, he served as a corporal at the Nike missile site in Tolchester, Maryland. He was co-owner of C & O Furniture and Celli Frame Shop, until his retirement.

During his life he was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing in the United States and Canada with family and friends. His grandsons attribute their love of the outdoors to the time spent with Nonno. He took pride in his garden each season. He spent time in the kitchen preparing his homemade sausage and prosciutto. Over the years, he enjoyed gatherings at the family cottage at Lake Wallenpaupack with family and friends.

A member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville, UNICO Scranton Chapter, YMCA Dunmore, and St Mary’s Cemetery Committee for many years.

He is survived by a son Carlo R. Celli, Peckville, and a daughter, Ann E. DiMattio and husband Christopher, Moscow, grandchildren, Louis and Robert DiMattio, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Orlando J. Celli and Primo Stefanelli, and an infant sister, Ida Stefanelli.

The funeral will be held Friday, March 27th, from the James M. Margotta Funeral Home, 1019 Main Street, Peckville, with Mass at 10 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville. Interment, St. Mary’s Assumption Cemetery, Montdale. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Funeral Home.
