Philadelphia will receive Democratic National Convention (DNC) officials for a visit at the end of April as part of a bid to host the DNC in 2032, according to the president of the host committee.
Earlier this month, the DNC named Philadelphia among five frontrunner cities for the 2028 convention, along with Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, and Denver.
According to NBC10, the plan centers on using the Xfinity Mobile Arena in South Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Center City for convention activities.
Despite development related to a new arena coming to South Philadelphia, Cohen said the work would not impact the ability to host a convention in Philly.
Cohen, who served as an ambassador during the Biden administration, helped bring two other conventions to Philadelphia: the Democrats in 2016 and the Republicans in 2000. He also believes Philadelphia could be a convention host site for 2032.
According to NBC10, Republicans announced that Houston would host the 2028 Republican National Convention more than two years ago, before the 2024 presidential election took place.
