Fekula, Joseph Jr.

Joseph Adam Fekula Jr., 93, of Bethlehem Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Dorothy A. (Troxell) Fekula, with whom he shared over 70 years of marriage, having been united on June 11, 1955. Born in Freemansburg on Sept. 3, 1932, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph Adam Fekula Sr. and Margaret (Kalbycik) Fekula. Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, exemplifying a lifelong commitment to service and dedication. He was employed as a leadman at Durkee’s in Bethlehem, where he worked in the spice industry for 32 years until his retirement. Never one to remain idle, Joseph continued working part-time with Bethlehem Recycling. A faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bethlehem, Joseph lived a life grounded in faith, family and simple pleasures. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was known to appreciate a cold Coors Light shared among friends and family.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his beloved wife Dorothy, he is survived by his children: Philip Fekula and his wife Linda L. of Bethlehem; Joseph Fekula and his wife Rosina Probasco Fekula of Bethlehem Township; and Debbie A. Farannte and her husband Mickey of Steel City. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Nathan, Michael, Jamie, Lindsey, Heidi, Allison, Maggie and Kelly; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Adam Fekula and John “Jack” Fekula.

SERVICES

Family and friends are invited to his visitation period from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2026 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 1817 First St., Bethlehem. The visitation period will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. The Rev. Frans J. Berkhour will be the Celebrant. Interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
