NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — With a low crime rate, highly rated schools, and “a sparse suburban feel,” Newtown Borough is the best place to live in Bucks County, according to a new ranking released by Niche.

Now in its 12th year, Niche’s 2026 Best Places to Live helps everyone from young people just starting their careers, to families, to retirees decide where they want to live. The report analyzes places of various sizes. Altogether, the ranking includes 230 cities and 18,000 towns, suburbs, and neighborhoods.

While Bucks County towns did not make the Top 10 Best Places to Live in Pennsylvania ranking, they did break the top 25, with Newtown Borough coming in at number 25, the highest ranking of any Bucks County town.

The borough, with a population of 2,224, received an A+ rating from Niche.

Niche calls Newtown Borough “one of the best places to live in Pennsylvania. Living in Newtown offers residents a sparse suburban feel, and most residents own their homes. In Newtown, there are a lot of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. Many retirees live in Newtown, and residents tend to have moderate political views. The public schools in Newtown are highly rated.”

Niche gives Newtown Borough an A+ for being good for families; an A for public schools, nightlife, and crime and safety; a B for housing; and a C for diversity.

According to Niche, the median home value in the borough is $783,400 compared to the national average of $332,700, with median rent listed at $1,887/month compared to $1,413 nationally. In Newtown Borough, 73 percent own their own home, with 27 percent paying rent.

Newtown Borough ranks at number seven for best places to retire in Pennsylvania; number 30 for best suburb to raise a family; and number 32 as the best place in Pennsylvania to raise a family.

Other Bucks County towns breaking the Top 100 are Yardley Borough at number 46, New Hope Borough at 49, Buckingham Township at 85, Doylestown Township at 86, and Solebury Township at 87.

Niche ranked Ardmore as the Best Place to Live in Pennsylvania, with Devon, Penn Wynne, Chesterbrook, and Swarthmore rounding out the top five.
