Pittsburgh LGBTQ Charities is working with local partners to assemble whistle kits. We have three primary groups of folx we’ll be targeting to distribute the kits
LGBTQ+folx, groups, events, organizations, etc – drag shows, bingos, social groups, events
Animal rescue/welfare folx, groups, events, organizations, etc throughout Western PA
Neighbors on the Northside
But we’ll respond to anyone who asks either directly or coordinating with another group.
The kits typically are a small plastic or cellphone bag with these items:
Whistle
Key ring or lanyard
Guide to the SALUTE method of reporting activity
A zine that explains the whistling protocol
Know Your Rights card – 15 language options (probably more)
Information on folx organizing the kits and relevant resources
Protect Trans Kids sticker, Gertie sticker

We need your support to cover the materials in these kits – lots of local sources donating time, just need help with materials. A $5.00 donation covers 10 kits that we can distribute to the community, while compensating local businesses and organizers doing this important work behind the scenes. We are also redirecting our resources to support families directly impacted.
