CAMDEN, N.J. (WPVI) — She’s shared the stage with Beyonce, and now Arnetta Johnson is giving back.
The Camden trumpet player is officially launching her nonprofit BOP foundation this weekend – turning her own experience into lessons for kids with limited access to the arts.
“I don’t ever want to see a kid be like I am not going to try that because they can’t get over the bridge (to Philadelphia) or not try at all,” said Arnetta Johnson.
And that’s why Arnetta Johnson is launching the BOP foundation.
The nonprofit will provide access, insight, and resources for the pursuit of music at EVERY level!
Johnson is an acclaimed trumpet player from Camden. 5 years ago, she launched “Arnetta’s band camp,” a summer initiative that helps under-resourced students learn how to play instruments.
Johnson, who has shared the stage with Beyoncé, performed at the CMAs, and more, says it’s essential to support the next generation of musicians.
The nonprofit will have an event Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Idea for Center for Arts in Camden.
