MC Micheles - 1

Through a Facebook post, MC Micheles LLC in Meadville has announced that they will be closing down shop until further notice. Due to the severe storm last night, the building shook which dislodged several bricks. The rubble had covered the roads and sidewalk surrounding the business. The fire department informed the business that they would not be able to re-open until the building is assessed and deemed safe to restart operations.

The business informed the public that no one was injured, and they are working with the fire department to ensure the best safety measures are taken.

Today Fire Chief Evan Kardosh shared via a Facebook post on the Meadville Firefighter page that the business is permitted to continue normal operations. However, the business has decided to remain closed for safety purposes until further notice.

He stated that as a precaution fire line tape and barricades have been placed in the area. Residents are encouraged to avoid the sidewalk on the northeast corner of Chestnut and Market Streets.

Additional assessments will be conducted to ensure the stability of the remaining front of the building.

The public is encouraged to report any structural concerns to the Fire Department or by calling 911. Chief Kardosh shared the departments appreciation for the community members who had reported the issue, the quick action by first responders, and Public Works for their assistance.

The owner went on a Facebook live to inform the public that they would still be closed but that a sale called the Fallen Friday Façade Sale will continue business online throughout the day. Items from the store will be posted on the MC Micheles LLC Facebook page for $2 each.

Those interested in purchasing the items can comment SOLD to claim the item. At the end of the day the owner will send out a total for the items. The store accepts Cash App, Venmo, or will send an invoice at the end of the day.

The owner stated that fire crews were at the business early this morning and the cleanup efforts have begun. She stated that if all goes well, they could be open Saturday for their $20 Big Bag Sale. This is a very difficult situation for a small business and especially on a Friday, but the business takes the public and its employees’ safety very seriously.
