Multiple pundits have suggested Nick Sirianni and the Philadelphia Eagles are a potential landing spot for All-Pro Myles Garrett.

Insider Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported at the end of this week the Cleveland Browns will not trade edge rusher Myles Garrett. But connecting some dots from this offseason, pundits still see a trade as possibly on the table.

Working under that assumption, two analysts have suggested the Philadelphia Eagles as a potential landing spot for the 2-time Defensive Player of the Year award winner over the past few days.

CBS Sports’s John Breech named the Eagles one of five potential landing spots for Garrett.

“The Eagles lost Jaelan Phillips in free agency and could use more pass-rush help,” Breech wrote. “They sacked Patrick Mahomes six times in their Super Bowl LIX win, so GM Howie Roseman knows the value of a dominant pass rush. He’s also not afraid to make a big move, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he took a swing at acquiring Garrett.”

Notably, Breech released his list prior to Garafolo’s report Friday. But Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport still named the Eagles a landing spot for Garrett on Saturday.

“If the best defensive player in the NFL (and one of the best pass-rushers the league has ever seen) truly is available, you can bet the rent that Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is interested. Roseman hoards defensive line talent like a squirrel hoards nuts,” wrote Davenport.

“The Eagles have quite a bit of young talent on the defensive front (again, Howie Roseman), but after Jaelan Phillips got a monster contract from the Carolina Panthers, the team lacks an anchor on the edge.”

Garrett, who signed a 4-year, $160 million deal last year, broke the NFL sack record during the 2025 campaign.

Why Myles Garrett Could Fit With Eagles

Pundits have linked the Eagles to just about every elite edge rusher potentially available since the team lost out on Jaelan Phillips early in NFL free agency.

ESPN’s Tim McManus reported just before free agency started the Eagles wanted to retain Phillips. But the Carolina Panthers offered Phillips a 4-year, $120 million contract. That deal exceeded even the highest contract projections Phillips received before March.

With Phillips gone, pundits have speculated whether the Eagles could trade for Maxx Crosby. Naturally, the same analysts are going to see Philadelphia as a potential suitor for Garrett with his trade speculation heating up.

“Garrett would provide that anchor and then some. And one of those young players like edge-rusher Nolan Smith or tackles Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter could be used as a pot-sweetener,” wrote Davenport.

“It’s an admittedly bold move. But the Eagles are in a weird spot right now—they are a contender, but not regarded as a Super Bowl favorite. They are really good but not great.

“Garrett could boost Philly back among the NFC’s elite.”

Garrett has made an All-Pro team six consecutive years, including first-team All-Pro the past three campaigns. He’s also won two of the past three Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Last season, he led the NFL in sacks for the first time with a new record 23.

There quite possibly isn’t a better edge rusher the Eagles could acquire this offseason for the 2026 campaign than Garrett.

Would the Browns Really Trade Garrett?

The simple answer to this question is no.

Garafolo clearly stated Friday the Browns do not want to trade the edge rusher.

Trade rumors swirled around Garrett last year as well. The edge rusher publicly requested a trade. But then the Browns signed Garrett to his $160 million contract.

However, Cleveland and Garrett recently agreed to new language in that contract that ramped up his trade speculation again.

“Garrett was set to receive an option bonus on the 15th day of the league year (March 25), but both sides agreed to push that date to seven days before the first regular-season game,” wrote Breech. “The move means the Browns won’t have to pay that money until September — and wouldn’t have to pay it at all if Garrett isn’t on the roster.”

In conclusion, it’s not much more affordable for the Browns to trade Garrett around the 2026 NFL Draft. An NFL rule change could help too.

Currently in the NFL, teams can only trade draft picks three years into the future. This offseason, there’s a proposal to change that to five.

Ironically, or not so ironically, the Browns were the team that proposed that rule change.

It’s possible Cleveland recognized teams would be much more willing to send the Browns more first-round picks for Garrett if those draft selections are further away.

The Eagles could be one of those teams. Trading multiple first-rounders years down the road could be a very enticing deal to land Garrett. That’s especially the case for the Eagles, who are aiming to get to a third Super Bowl in five years next season.
