INDIANA, Pa. — IUP softball earned its second PSAC sweep in a week as the Crimson Hawks used late heroics in Game 1 and dominated Game 2 with timely offense and strong pitching to defeat Gannon on Sunday.

In Game 1, a three-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning gave IUP the lead. Madison Booth shut the door on the Golden Knights after relieving starter Kendall Young following the fifth inning.

The game featured four home runs — three by Gannon and one record-tying shot by senior Delaney Patella for IUP.

Patella’s solo home run, which landed in the first row of the parking lot, was the 29th of her career, tying the program record set by Kaitlyn Beers (2017-21).

Madison Pikula delivered the game-winning hit, driving a three-RBI triple into the left-center field gap that rolled to the fence.

Booth earned the win in relief, her third of the season.

In Game 2, freshman Taylor Bumgardner allowed just one hit over four innings, leading a dominant pitching performance.

Emily Miller drove in four of IUP’s nine runs, hitting her second home run of the season — a two-run shot — and adding a two-run single in the third inning.

IUP recorded three extra-base hits in the game, including two doubles and a home run. Bumgardner earned her team-leading sixth win of the season.

The Crimson Hawks return to action Monday at Podbielski Field, where Edinboro will visit South Campus for a rescheduled PSAC doubleheader. First pitch of Game 1 is set for 2 p.m.
