Erie County has named new finance, information technology, human resources and public safety directors.
The appointments were announced by Erie County Executive Christina Vogel on March 30.
Previously announced was the hiring of John Stehlin to lead community engagement for the county. The longtime Erie television personality will be the county’s chief spokesman.
Here are the other new hires:
Finance director
Patrick Ryan, previously manager of accounting and finance for the county, is the new county finance director.

Ryan has worked for the county for almost two decades and brings institutional knowledge, fiscal discipline and a commitment to transparency to his new role, Vogel said.
“His experience ensures that our taxpayer dollars will be managed responsibly and strategically,” Vogel said in a statement.
His salary is $118,307.
Information technology director
Doug DeSanti is the new director of information technology.
DeSanti has worked for the county for three years, previously as geographic information system manager.

“Doug DeSanti’s extensive experience across both the public and private sectors gives our county a unique advantage as we start to modernize systems, strengthen cybersecurity and improve services for residents and employees alike,” Vogel said.
His salary is $103,730.
Human resources director
Kyle Shoulders will lead the human resources department beginning May 4.
He previously was talent acquisition manager and wellness coordinator for the county, and earlier worked in advising, leadership development and student engagement at Mercyhurst University and Penn State University. He is certified as a human resources professional and is an Edinboro Borough Councilman.

“Kyle Shoulders has the knowledge, professionalism and integrity to build a workplace culture that attracts, retains and supports exceptional public servants,” Vogel said.
His salary has been tentatively set at $92,996, pending Erie County Council approval.
Director of public safety
John Durlin has been named director of public safety.
He previously was the department’s interim director.

“When I stepped into this role, I was genuinely and positively surprised by the positive changes already underway in the Department of Public Safety,” Vogel said. “John Durlin’s steady leadership, openness to collaboration and focus on professionalism have made a real different for both the department and the community it serves.”
His salary is $91,062.
