As part of the excitement, city leaders invited the community’s youngest residents to get involved. Tuesday marked the deadline for the 250th Celebration logo design competition. It was open to students in grades K through 12. Officials with the Mayor’s Office said they received numerous submissions, showcasing creativity and enthusiasm across the city.

The competition is just one piece of a larger vision for the year-long celebration honoring Erie’s past while inspiring its future by engaging the next generation.

“It’s really exciting for us,” said Hunter Lytle, Special Events Coordinator with the Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs. “We have been here three months now and we have really made some great leeway on making sure the City of Erie is going to be represented well for America250PA.”

The winning logo will be revealed during the mayor’s news conference on April 14, where more details about Erie’s plans for the 250th anniversary will also be announced.

The Mayor’s Office will also unveil the Celebrate Erie lineup in May, highlighting how the popular festival will tie into the America250PA festivities.
