MANCHESTER, N.H. —
A New Hampshire ice cream shop and chef have been named finalists for the 2026 James Beard Awards, among the nation’s most prestigious culinary honors.
Super Secret Ice Cream in Bethlehem is nominated for Outstanding Bakery, while Evan Hennessey of Stages in Dover is up for Best Chef: Northeast.

Hennessey is competing against David DiStasi of Connecticut, Thomas Takashi Cooke of Maine, Paul Trombly of Vermont, and Derek Wagner of Rhode Island.
Super Secret Ice Cream faces competition from Cultured in Wisconsin, Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop in Alaska, Weltons Tiny Bakeshop in South Carolina, and Wild Crumb in Montana. The Bethlehem shop was also a James Beard Award finalist in 2025.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Chicago on June 15.
