Evening services were cancelled Wednesday after a fire broke out at the Kittanning Church of Christ in Armstrong County. 

Firefighters were called to the church along Blaney Road in Manor Township around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Video captured at the scene showed smoke pouring from the upper floor of the church building..

An afternoon fire left some damage behind at the Kittanning Church of Christ along Blaney Road.

The church shared an evening update on social media, saying that everything was contained to two downstairs classrooms inside the building.

“Please be in prayer for our congregation,” the church said. 

No services tonight due to a fire at the church building. Please be in prayer for our congregation.

The church said there was a lot of water damage to the downstairs portion of the building and smoke damage to the upstairs.

“We will be having services at the Kittanning Township fire hall on Sunday,” the church said.

People are being asked to stay out of the building and the church added that they’re thankful that everyone is safe and that no injuries are reported.
