ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Police say they used a stun gun on a 37-year-old Allentown man who is accused of firing gunshots.

Officers responded to the report of a person firing gunshots in the 100 block of West Tilghman Street shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the Allentown Police Department.

Arriving officers found Karriem Muhammad Jr., who matched the description of the person who fired the shots, city police said.

City police said Muhammad ran away and was reaching near his waist. Police used a stun gun on him after he refused lawful verbal commands to stop, city police said in the news release.

Officers recovered a firearm from Muhammad, police said.

Police said Muhammad is charged with Firearms Not to be Carried Without a License, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Resisting Arrest, Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot, Disorderly Conduct, and Public Drunkenness.
