A Westmoreland County man is accused of chasing a water authority employee down his street with a gun. Mykola Prut faces criminal charges after the alleged incident that led to multiple police units responding to Water Street in Ardara. “Every single person was outside,” said Nisa Defelice, who also lives on Water Street. “Everybody was just asking what was going on. That’s the only thing I can say about this street. It’s very quiet over here.”Police got a call just before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. “He already shut the water off,” the voice on the 911 call said. “Male came out, cocked a gun and pointed it at him.”According to police, Prut was inside his Water Street home when he saw a man kneeling beside the back of his car with a tool. That’s when Prut came outside. “Apparently the water authority was there to shut off some guy’s water,” the 911 call continued. “He pulled a gun on them, chased them through the woods. The actor believed that the guy was trying to get into his vehicle.”“I’ve never seen that many cops,” Defelice said. “There were a ton of them screaming, shouting, and yelling.” Prut allegedly threatened to shoot the employee and then chased him down the street. “We looked out, and there were cops running up and down the streets holding their assault rifles and everything,” Defelice said. “We saw about seven cop cars parked in the Ardara church parking lot.”Prut allegedly told officers that after the employee ran into the woods and through Brush Creek, he took a tool from the man’s van and the keys. The employee was found by the water authority pinging his phone. He was unharmed.“It’s actually insane that happened,” Defelice said. “It’s really not that serious. It could’ve been a conversation.” Neighbors told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that he never caused problems in the neighborhood before the alleged chase. Prut faces charges including aggravated assault and theft by unlawful taking.
