Enjoy Food Trucks and Free Movies Friday Nights in May, Across From the Please Touch Museum
Spring evenings in the park are getting a cinematic twist as Fairmount Park Conservancy brings back its popular outdoor movie series, Friday Flicks at the Fountain.
Kicking off on Friday, May 1, 2026, the free, family-friendly series will take place at the scenic John Welsh Memorial Fountain in West Fairmount Park (across from the Please Touch Museum)—offering a perfect setting for movie nights under the stars featuring a rotation of food trucks.
This year’s series celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Centennial Exposition, the first official World’s Fair held in the United States, which took place in West Fairmount Park.
Each movie in the lineup ties into an inventor or invention theme, honoring the groundbreaking innovations—like the telephone and typewriter—that were showcased during the 1876 exposition.
Spring 2026 Movie Lineup
The series features three Friday night screenings in May, all beginning at 8 p.m.:
May 1 – Big Hero 6 (PG)
May 8 – How to Train Your Dragon (PG)
May 15 – Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (PG)
Each film is paired with a pre-movie interactive activity from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., making it a full evening of entertainment for families. Food truck lineup to be announced.
Each night kicks off with hands-on programming from local partners, including:
Shofuso Japanese Cultural Center
Please Touch Museum
Free Library of Philadelphia
These activities are designed to engage kids and families while tying into the evening’s inventive theme.
