NORTHAMPTON, Pa. – A woman at Sacred Heart Senior Living in Northampton County wasn’t just celebrating Easter on Sunday.
Rosie Knesz was turning an amazing 105-years-old.
“They look at her as family, and it means a lot to me, knowing that she’s being taken care of,” said Knesz’ daughter, Debra Demler.
And Demler said just ask the staff, Rosie is still living a full life.
“She loves to play shuffleboard,” said Houskeeper Betty Toolan.
“She still goes down and she plays Bingo,” said Demler. “Sometimes they have movie theater and bowling.”
Demler said, when your mother is 105, people always have questions, but the answers may surprise you.
“A lot of people ask what makes her live this long, and she loves lard. She loves to eat toasted with lard and drizzled with garlic. She loves that. She swears that that’s what’s keeping her here,” said Demler.
“She loves chocolate,” said Toolan.
“She does love potato chips, so I fixed her a big bag of potato chips,” said Dietary Specialist Perma Stevens.
Potato chips, chocolate, and garlic bread with lard. That’s apparently what’s brought Rosie to blowing out 105 candles on her cake, and her staff and family hope they get to celebrate many more years with her.
“She’s just a wonderful lady, and to be 105, it’s a wonderful thing,” said Stevens.
“It makes me feel great. It makes her happy. She feels special,” said Demler.
