SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Crowds filled Saint Peter’s Cathedral in Scranton to celebrate Easter with a special morning mass. People came together to reflect and rejoice during one of the most important days of the year in the Catholic Church.
“It’s not just like a personal belief; it’s an entire community, thousands of years of history. You get so deep, and when you wanna go deeper, you can, it’s just amazing,” Scranton resident Patrick Caffrey said.
“Remembering the strength in the Lord, in our savior, and then how much of a support system a solid family we can have,” Joshua Mattei from Scranton stated.
“It is just very heartening to see so many people throughout this holy week and even this morning in the rain coming to Saint Peter’s Cathedral,” Diocese of Scranton Bishop Joseph Bambera explained.

“The message here was exactly that, that no matter what is going on in the world, you can still have hope,” Caffrey added.
“And may we go forth from this great cathedral this morning blessed with hope: Hope to continue to encounter and proclaim the resurrection,” Bambera said.
Church leaders say Easter remains one of the most attended services of the year, bringing together both regular members and those returning for the holiday.
