(WJET/WFXP)– For the first time in nearly four years, the average price for a gallon of gas in western Pennsylvania has gone over $4, according to AAA.
As of April 6, the average price for a gallon of gas is up to $4.11, jumping $0.12 in a week and $0.80 in the last month, with AAA adding that this is the first time it’s crossed the $4 mark since August 2022.
Local gas prices now nearly $4.20 a gallon
With the price of crude oil shooting up to well above $100 a barrel, the Straight of Hormuz still closed, along with a decrease in demand and production of gasoline, prices have reached a similar range to the spring and summer of 2022.
During that time, AAA said prices peaked on June 13 at $5.02 a gallon on average. In Erie, prices were about $4.19 per gallon as of April 3 and sit at $4.16 on average this week.
