READING, Pa. – Officials confirm a homicide occurred Monday night on the 100 block of Muhlenberg Street in Reading.
At approximately 6:57 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 1000 block of Muhlenberg St. for what was reported as a shooting, according to a press release from the city.
Upon arrival, officers located a man with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Police say he was transported to Reading Hospital for life-saving measures but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Shortly after arriving on scene, officers say they located a suspect and took him into custody.
City officials say this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
