Friday, April 10-Sunday, April 12: “Spring Mix” at the August Wilson Cultural Center

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s “Spring Mix” features the work of some of the world’s most thrilling choreographers, including the Pittsburgh premiere of Mark Godden’s “Angels in the Architecture,” set to Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring.” The production will also feature a world premiere from acclaimed choreographer Garrett Smith, among other pieces. Tickets start at $33.

Saturday, April 11: South Park Children’s Theatre Auditions, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

Got a kid who’s begging to be in the spotlight? Kids ages 6 to 18 are invited out this weekend to audition for the summer theater series. No prior acting experience is required. Please check here for information about submitting a video audition or choosing a monologue to read in-person.

Saturday, April 11: “Scraposaurs” at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden

Explore the art of Dale Lewis in his collection of 14 sculptures of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures created from repurposed scrap metal and found objects. This exhibit opens this weekend and will run through October 31. This exhibition is included with garden admission.

Saturday, April 11: Sensory-Friendly Screening of “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” at The Lindsay, 10 a.m.

The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center in Sewickley is hosting a sensory-friendly screening this weekend. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which starts playing at The Lindsay on April 1, finds Mario venturing into space to explore cosmic worlds and tackle galactic challenges far from the familiar Mushroom Kingdom. The Lindsay’s sensory friendly screenings provide an option for families, children, and adults impacted by autism and other special needs to watch films together in a low-stress environment. Saturday, April 11: F.I.N.E. Arts Weekend at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

The F.I.N. E. (Fresh Innovation Non-stop Expression) Arts Residency regularly brings the community together with local artists to explore creativity, thanks to a grant from the Fine Foundation. This weekend’s activities are all about clay. Print on clay, create with clay, and learn about the firing and wheel-throwing process. There will even be a Pottery Throw Down Competition. All of these events are included with museum admission.

Saturday, April 11: Future Engineers at Penn Hills Library, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

At this free event designed for kids in grades K through 5, kids will explore the ins and outs of STEM and what it takes to be an engineer. Find more information and register here.

Saturday, April 11-Sunday, April 12: Vintage Tech Fest at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum

Got a kid (or adult) who is into old gadgets? Explore antique radios, typewriters, printing presses, victrolas and phonographs from the trolley era at the museum this weekend. Guests will also get to meet the exhibitors and see the passion they have for their hobbies. This event is included with museum admission.

Sunday, April 12: United Rocks at Ascend Point Breeze, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. 

This Sunday is the first United Rocks climbing event for kids with IDD (intellectual and developmental disabilities) at Ascend in Point Breeze. This event will occur every Sunday except the third Sunday of each month, moving forward. Please find more information about the program here, and register here.

Sunday, April 12: Little Minnows Story Time at White Whale Books, 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

A themed, cozy story time is offered at White Whale Bookstore every other Sunday. Stop by and listen to tales about community, snow, Black joy and more. These free events are designed for children and their families two years old and up. Find more info here.

Sunday, April 12: K-POP Fun Factory with South Side Kids, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

This weekend, South Side Kids is teaming up with Enclave, which typically hosts adult events. This event, though, is for kids who can’t get enough of the latest K-Pop craze. There will be a live DJ, face painting, a meet-and-greet with the lead Huntress, and more. Tickets are $38, but the code SSKIDS26 is good for 35 percent off!
