Excitement and water filled the air at Point State Park on Tuesday as officials announced improvements to the park were coming together ahead of schedule —just in time for the NFL Draft. One of the main improvements talked about was the Point State Park fountain. “The fountain is iconic,” Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato said. “This is our signature as a city and as a region.” The $3.4 million improvement project included changes to parking, concessions, landscaping, hardscape, and the iconic city fountain. The new improvements come as part of Gov. Josh Shapiro’s 10-year plan to revitalize Downtown Pittsburgh. The second phase of work at the park is part of a broader 10-year strategy Shapiro launched last October, uniting Pittsburgh’s private sector, local government, corporate leaders, and nonprofits behind a plan to build more housing, revitalize public spaces, and improve safety, among other things. Other projects like Arts Landing and Market Square will be opening soon. Looking for more news in your area | Subscribe to the WTAE YouTube Channel
