(WHTM) — A Pennsylvania State Police trooper accused of using work computers to create pornography and secretly recording others pleaded guilty, the Attorney General’s Office announced Wednesday.
Stephen M. Kamnik, 39, a Pennsylvania State Police corporal, pleaded guilty to 15 charges, including nine felonies and six misdemeanors, in Montgomery County Court. He was charged last January.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, Kamnik secretly filmed women he came into contact with, including on duty, and repeatedly entered a women’s locker room at the State Police barracks and took photos.
He also used law enforcement and Commonwealth databases for personal reasons, and work computers to use AI tools to create pornography, including at the State Police barracks.
“This defendant pleaded guilty to the full scope of conduct outlined in charging documents — and in regards to all in-person victims,” Attorney General Dave Sunday said. “These crimes stain the great work being done by law enforcement every day in communities across the Commonwealth.”
His cellphone and an external hard drive from his home, the Attorney General’s Office said, revealed evidence that he also used a secured database, JNET, to obtain hundreds of photographs of women.
He pleaded guilty to four counts of felony unlawful use of a computer, receiving stolen property, unlawful duplication, interception of communications, criminal trespass, and misdemeanor counts of invasion of privacy, official oppression, tampering with evidence, misapplication of entrusted property and unlawful use of an audio or video device in court.
He will be sentenced on July 8.
