ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Police in Allentown are seeking a driver who they say hit a pedestrian then fled the scene.
Patrol officers and paramedics for the City of Allentown responded to American Parkway and Gordon Street for report of a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian Friday at 3:40 a.m., according to a news release from the Allentown Police Department.
Responding officers and medics found an unidentified male lying in the roadway, unresponsive and suffering from multiple traumatic injuries, city police said.
The male was transported by Allentown EMS to a local area hospital for treatment of those injuries, where he remains hospitalized in critical, but stable condition, according to city police. Police said the victim is expected to survive.
According to police, the vehicle that struck the victim fled the scene immediately after the collision.
A review of city cameras in the area shows a dark in color sedan striking the victim as he crossed American Parkway at the Gordon Street intersection, according to the news release.
The driver continued south on American Parkway following the crash, police said.
The Allentown Police Department- Traffic Safety Unit, and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the incident.
