READING, Pa. – A Reading man died after a wheel that had detached from a car hit the windshield of a car he was in.
Eric Diaz, 49, is dead after the crash, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers were sent to a crash on the 1400 block of U.S. Highway 15 in Armstrong Township, Lycoming County on Sept. 1, state police said in a news release.
A car was driving north on U.S. Highway 15 in the left travel lane when the driver’s side front wheel separated from the vehicle, state police said.
The wheel bounced over the concrete barrier into the path of an SUV which was traveling south on U.S. Highway 15, according to state police.
State police said the wheel hit the SUV’s passenger’s -side windshield and struck Diaz, who was a front-seat passenger.
The SUV’s driver and another passenger was hurt in the crash.
The driver of the car that the wheel detached from was not hurt, state police said.
