Mercer County Food Bank walked away a winner Thursday night, taking home first-place and a $10,000 GBU Foundation Community Grant Award.
The award was decided by a public vote, and Development Director Alexis Spence-Locke said they are extremely grateful for the community’s votes of support.
“That $10,000 award is because of our community,” Spence-Locke said. “Because of them we will be able to provide 20,000 meals to community members in need.”
The GBU Foundation, which sponsored the grant, is a charitable arm of the Pittsburgh-based fraternal benefit society, GBU Life, that awards funds to non-profit organizations each year based on its four Community pillars: Wellness, Education, Charitable Giving, and Hometown Hero Support.
The Mercer County Food Bank falls under the Charitable Giving Pillar.
Spence-Locke also thanked 21 News viewers specifically, for taking the time to vote for Mercer County Food Bank and help them reach this milestone.
