OBITUARY

Ruth Ann (Brigham) Lahr, age 82, of Carbondale, passed away on Saturday at Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton following an illness. On July 10th, 2013, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Henry R. Lahr.

Born on September 9, 1943, and daughter of the late Ernest and Sarah (Perrins) Brigham, Ruth Ann was born in West Wyoming. Along with raising her four beloved daughters, she worked for Gress Poultry of Scranton, and more recently, at McDonald’s in Dickson City until she retired. She was also a devoted and longtime member of the New Life Apostolic Church in West Pittston.

To be remembered in so many ways, Ruth Ann enjoyed traveling, having made countless memories during family Wildwood, N.J., vacations. She was also a great cook, and an avid reader (The Bible) who loved to learn. Above all else came her family, especially her grandchildren whom she adored. She will never be forgotten by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving family including four beloved daughters, Deborah Parry of Carbondale, Ruthann Swenton and husband Martin of Exeter, Sandra O’Malley and husband Bradley of Carbondale and Ann Hanicak and Jeff Winters of Olyphant; eight grandchildren, April, Bradley O. and wife Casandra, Bradley H. and wife Amanda, Ashley and husband Zachary, Kyle and wife Shey-Anne, Sarah and fiance Andre Robinson, Alan and Gabrielle; ten great-grandchildren who loved their “Big Mom-Mom”, Mayson, Azariah, Grayson, Zoriannah, Kayden, Karter, Karson, Wyatt, Peyton and Lucas; siblings, Ernest Brigham III of Carbondale and Ernestine Brigham of VA; and nieces and nephews. Also her beloved dog companion Vader.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Brigham.

Her family would like to acknowledge the entire staff of Allied Skilled Nursing, especially 3rd floor, for the amazing care given to Ruth Ann throughout her stay.

A celebration of Ruth Ann’s life is scheduled for Thursday (today) at 6:00 PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, to be conducted by Rev. Sandy Dixon-Eramo. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 4:00 PM until services.
