BOGGS TWP. – A 33-year-old Ridgway, Elk County, man was killed in a car vs. tanker truck crash along Route 28/66 in Boggs Township, Armstrong County, on Tuesday, April 8.

Armstrong County Coroner Brian K. Myers reports that Nathan Anthony Brown was fatally injured when the car he was driving crossed the center line and hit an oncoming tractor trailer.

Myers said that Brown was trapped in the driver’s seat of his vehicle.

The incident occurred on Route 28/66, at the intersection of Hoover Road in Boggs Township, just before 5 p.m.

The report states that Brown was driving north in a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox when the vehicle crossed over the centerline, striking a 2025 Kenworth tractor trailer.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by Armstrong County Chief Deputy Coroner Robert Bellas. An autopsy will not be performed. Toxicology results will not be available for several weeks.

The coroner’s office was assisted at the scene by Templeton-Pine Township VFD, Distant VFD, Dayton District VFD, Kittanning #6 VFD, Kittanning #6 EMS, Rayburn Township VFD, and state police from Kittanning.

Route 28/66 was closed well into the evening from the crash.

The coroner said that no further details are available and the cause of the crash is still under investigation by state police and the Coroner’s Office.
