WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. – Charges have been filed one year after a wrong-way driver hit and killed a motorcyclist on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

25-year-old Onanyeli Rosario-Mesa of Allentown is charged with homicide by vehicle while DUI, involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment and related offenses.

On March 30, 2025, police say Rosario-Mesa was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the turnpike in Washington Township, Lehigh County when she struck two motorcycles.

One of the motorcycle riders, John Sweeney, died at the scene.

According to court documents, several witnesses reported seeing Rosario-Mesa’s car driving southbound in the northbound lanes prior to the crash.

A blood draw at the hospital allegedly yielded a 0.104% BAC, which would place the defendant over the legal limit.

Online court records list Rosario-Mesa as not in custody at this time.
