An Allentown woman who authorities said was driving the wrong way on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension in Washington Township, Lehigh County, last year is facing homicide by vehicle while DUI and other charges in a crash that killed a motorcyclist.

State police said Onanyeli Rosario-Mesa, 25, was in an SUV driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 476 near mile marker 67 around 9 a.m. on March 30, 2025, when she ran into a group of five motorcyclists traveling the opposite direction.

John Sweeney, 50, of Bristol, Bucks County, was killed and a 24-year man, also from Bristol, was injured.

Police said several witnesses and video surveillance footage showed Rosario-Mesa’s vehicle driving southbound in the northbound lanes, passing several vehicles that pulled to the side of the road to avoid her.

The Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office said Friday that Rosario-Mesa was charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence; homicide by vehicle; involuntary manslaughter; recklessly endangering another person; DUI/unsafe driving; careless driving — unintentional death; and driving on one-way roadway.

Rosario-Mesa had a blood alcohol content between 0.10% and 0.16%, authorities said. In Pennsylvania, the legal BAC limit is 0.08%.

The DA’s office said an arrest warrant has been filed for Rosario-Mesa, but she remains at large. Anyone with information about her is asked to call 911.

The charges were filed April 1. A hearing date has not been set.
