Raubsville Road in Williams Township will be closed for several weeks as PennDOT replaces a bridge over Frey’s Run.

A detour will go into effect Monday and last until at least August, PennDOT said Friday.

Raubsville Road will be detoured between Durham Road and Buttermilk Road. Motorists will use Raubsville Road, Hexenkopf Road and Morgan Hill Road.

PennDOT said the $1.7 million project will replace the existing masonry arch bridge with a concrete arch culvert. Other work includes approach roadway reconstruction, milling and paving, guide rail installation, curb installation, drainage improvements, and signing and pavement marking.

The existing bridge is 24 feet long and 21 feet wide and was constructed in 1896. The new structure will be 30 feet long and 36 feet wide. This section of Raubsville Road has an average daily traffic of 1,639 vehicles daily

Grace Industries Inc. of Bath is the general contractor.
