Police charged a New Hampshire man with stealing a car from a valet service at Geisinger Community Medical Center, crashing it and then fleeing the scene on Tuesday.
At about 7 a.m., Jeffrey Hall, 57, of Nashua, was leaving the Scranton hospital when he pushed employee Tim Neiman, as he stood at the valet podium, according to a criminal complaint.
He continued to the curb, where valet service employee Eugene Wasko was parking a Jeep Wrangler. Hall pulled Wasko from the vehicle, causing the employee to stumble, police said.
Hall got into the Jeep and drove about 30 feet before hitting two parked cars.
Surveillance footage showed Hall then exiting the vehicle, putting his hands in his pockets and calmly walking away, according to the complaint.
Hall and another man had been admitted to the hospital the day before following a traffic accident.
Officers noted that Hall did not have any head or other injuries.
A search following his arrest yielded a pipe containing marijuana residue.
When police questioned Hall about the incident, he said he did not remember taking the vehicle, according to the complaint.
Hall is facing felony charges of robbery and theft, in addition to misdemeanor charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
He remains at the Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on April 21 before District Judge Paul Ware.
