ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A 15-year-old Pennsylvania girl is dead, and the man who provided her fentanyl was sentenced after pleading guilty, according to Attorney General Dave Sunday.
Shakeirs Foster, 29, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and delivery in Allegheny Court. He was sentenced to two and a half to six years in state prison, with no eligibility for boot camp or sentence reduction.
According to Sunday, the teen died at a hospital due to “recent fentanyl use,” a week after Foster provided the drugs May 7, 2024.
Charges against Foster came after an investigation by the Office of the Attorney General, the North Fayette Police, and the 51st Statewide Investigating Grand Jury.
“This unspeakable tragedy epitomizes the devastation fentanyl causes — a young woman’s hopes and dreams shattered, and her loved ones left with pain and heartache,” Sunday said. “That is why we, along with law enforcement partners, continue to target predatory traffickers who value a few dollars over human life.”
A member of the victim’s family read an impact statement in court for the family.
“(Our child’s) life was stolen from her in the very place where she should have been safest: our home. Because of the defendant’s choices, the apartment we shared became a place of trauma,” the statement read in part. “The defendant did not just take one life; he destroyed the foundation of our family. He took away prom nights, summer memories, and the future of a sweet, funny girl who deserved to grow up.”

According to the investigation, witnesses said they saw Foster enter the victim’s apartment that day and leave a short time later. Soon after, the teen became unresponsive, and 911 was called. She was rushed to the hospital but tragically never regained consciousness and died seven days later on May 14, 2024.
Sunday said in a previous release that Foster traded the drugs for sexual acts, as the teen said she didn’t have much money.
