Marilyn Mae Hartranft, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away peacefully April 12, 2026 at Laureldale Skilled Nursing & Rehab.
She was the widow of Harry Irvin Hartranft who passed away in 1995.
Born August 6, 1937, in West Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Claude Entzminger and Arlene (Moyer) Entzminger.
During Marilyn’s working years she had a number of different jobs. She was employed by Boyertown Casket Company, Bortz’s Candy, AT&T, Penn Optical, and then retired from Alcon in Sinking Spring.
In Marilyn’s free time she loved to go swimming in her pool and reading a good book. Going to the Wildwood Crest, NJ and Ocean City, MD soaking up the sun was one of her favorite ways to spend a vacation. She was a people person and had a heart of gold. Marilyn would also be looking to help where she could and would always greet someone with a beautiful smile. Marilyn also had a love for dogs, especially German Shepards. What brought her true joy was spending time with her family.
Surviving is one child, Sherry ( Hartranft) Hinnershitz, wife of David of Temple, PA.
Also surviving are three grandchildren: Krista Hartranft, companion of Harry Dawson of Temple, PA; Scott Hinnershitz, husband of Ariana (Weyandt) of Temple, PA; and Ryan Hinnershitz of Temple, PA. There is one step grandchild also surviving: Deanna Andrews, companion of Chris Bradley.
She leaves behind three great grandchildren: Madalynn Dawson; Jayce Row; and Channing Dawson. As well as her misfit daughter, Lori Hertzog. As well as two step great grandchildren, Gavin Andrews, and Chase Andrews.
Five siblings are surviving: Barbara (Entzminger) Harrison, widow of Robert of Lake Livingston, TX; Nancy (Entzminger) Radwanski, widow of Richard of Royal Palm Beach, FL; Sandy (Entzminger) Krotulski, widow of Joseph of Fleetwood, PA; Brenda (Deutsch) George, wife of Parker of Wernersville, PA; and Judy (Deutsch) Wallace, wife of Larry of Reading, PA.
Marilyn was predeceased by three children: Harry Scott Hartranft; Robin Rhodes, and her husband Bobby Rhodes; and Brian Hartranft, and his wife Donna (Breedy). She is also predeceased by one brother, Donald Entzminger, husband of Ann (Lesniewski) of Exeter Township.
The family appreciated the kindness of the close friends who were always there to help care for her and the friends and relatives that came to visit at home and at Laureldale Skilled Nursing and Rehab.
A viewing will be held Friday, April 17, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Laureldale, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605. A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. Burial will take place after the service at Laureldale Cemetery.
