Free agent wide receiver Tyler Lockett has decided to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders, reuniting with his former head coach Pete Carroll and old friend at quarterback, Geno Smith. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in the market for a wide receiver.
Lockett requested his release out of the Tennessee Titans organization last week, and hit the open market. Now, he is quickly being snapped up by a Raiders team that has struggled.
Lockett, 33, has just ten receptions on the year in what has become a poor Titans offense
The Seattle Seahawks cut Lockett back in March after retooling their team and signing Cooper Kupp to replace him. Of course, Pittsburgh traded for D K Metcalf, which gave Lockett a direction connection to the Steelers organization, but he has more ties to the Raiders.
Lockett played in all 17 games but had just 600 receiving yards on 49 receptions this last season. That was his worst season since 2017. Along with the emergence of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the Seahawks decided it was time to move on.
He has not followed that up with a sterling start this season, so how much does he really have left in the tank? That would been the big question the Steelers have to answer if they tried to pursue Lockett.
