Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O’Connor marked his 100th day in office on Wednesday, reflecting on city finances and partnerships with local businesses and sports teams. UPMC pledged $10 million for new EMS ambulances and rescue trucks, while PNC recently committed $2 million for snowplows. When asked about the possibility of other Pittsburgh employers, such as the Steelers, contributing, O’Connor said, “We’ve already started dialogues with the major sports teams. And obviously, the Penguins have a new owner coming in. But for the Pirates to step up to focus on ball fields, I think it is impactful.” He continued, “There’s, and we’ve had those conversations, and I think, you know, we feel confident that we will get to an agreement.” Mayor O’Connor said everyone has a part to play in Pittsburgh, even those with “deep pockets.” He encourages everyone to find a way to volunteer.
