HUGHESTOWN, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — Hughestown police are asking for the public’s help in locating a contractor wanted in connection with a home improvement fraud investigation.

Authorities say Michael John Szumski, 47, of Pittston, is wanted on an arrest warrant tied to allegations he violated Pennsylvania’s Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act.

According to police, Szumski is associated with B & S Construction Service LLC and is accused of taking money for work that was never completed or not performed as promised.

Court records show Szumski is facing multiple felony charges, including theft by deception, deceptive business practices, and accepting advance payment for services without completing the work.

The charges stem from an incident reported in Hughestown Borough, and the case is currently awaiting a preliminary hearing.

Police describe Szumski as 6 feet tall, weighing about 185 pounds, with a medium build, brown eyes, and a bald head.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have hired Szumski or believes they may have been a victim to contact their local police department.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked not to approach him, but instead call 911 or contact Hughestown Police at 570-654-2082. Tips can be provided anonymously.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
