New York State Police say a Pennsylvania man was arrested Tuesday after leading police on a chase back into Pennsylvania.
According to police, around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, troopers saw a Hyundai following a vehicle too close on Interstate 81. The same vehicle then twice failed to stop at a stop sign, once at the bottom of the Exit 1 off ramp near State Route 11, and then again at the intersection of Conklin-Kirkwood Bridge.
A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver took off at a high rate of speed, making more vehicle and traffic infractions while going down several roads, before heading back into Pennsylvania.
State Police from both New York and Pennsylvania worked together to locate the vehicle and driver, who was identified as 28-year-old Austin L. Darrow of New Milford, PA.
Darrow turned himself in at the State Police Binghamton barracks on Tuesday and was charged with Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle.
