OUR NATION’S HISTORY. A DARK DAY IN PITTSBURGH’S HISTORY WHEN A GUNMAN WENT INSIDE THE SYNAGOGUE ON OCTOBER 27TH, 2018, AND STARTED FIRING AT THE THREE CONGREGATIONS WORSHIPING. HE WAS SENTENCED TO DEATH IN 2023. TODAY, A DAY OF REFLECTION WITH VARIOUS GROUPS WORKING TO REMEMBER AND HONOR THE LIVES LOST AND IMPACTED BY THAT TRAGEDY. ONE OF THOSE WAYS IS CREATING A NEW TREE OF LIFE BUILDING THAT IS BEING DESCRIBED AS A RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL BEACON. THESE RENDERINGS SHOW WHAT THAT BUILDING WILL LOOK LIKE. MEMBERS OF THE TREE OF LIFE ORGANIZATION SAY IT WILL ENCOMPASS A 300 SEAT, STATE OF THE ART SANCTUARY AND THEATER FOR RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES. THE GOAL IS TO HAVE A SOFT OPENING IN THE FALL OF 2027. AND OVER THE WEEKEND, GROUPS WERE OUT VOLUNTEERING IN VARIOUS WAYS, PACKING MEALS, DONATING BLOOD AND MAKING DENTAL KITS IN HONOR OF THE VICTIMS.
