SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Artists far and wide will join in Scranton, starting on Friday, to showcase a permanent art style… Tattoos
“We want to bring exceptional tattooing to Scranton, Pennsylvania. So that’s why we bring in artists from California and North Carolina and just bring in the best tattooers we can.”
The Electric City Tattoo Convention is getting its ink ready again for this year, marking its 15th year.
Electric City Tattoo Co-owner Woody Wodock said that growth was not as much of an option as it was a necessity.
“We’ve kind of just had to grow because of what it has become as far as demand for artists wanting to come to Scranton.”
This year has over 120 booths, ready to host 212 artists. While each artist covers different styles, they will compete in competitions against ONE another, showcasing to those on the floor what is possible
“People love it cause people can show off their tattoos. And I think it is good for people to come out and see the contest, what is capable of being done with the artists.”
Even for those not planning to get a tattoo, multiple vendors from woodworking to candle making keep people coming. Wodock says it’s worth it for the atmosphere.
“One, it’s just cool to walk around and check it out. Probably spend hours here and not see everything that is going on.
