As the spring planting season gets underway, The Bethlehem Center is receiving donations from community partners who are investing in both people and place. The Home Builders Association of Greater Chattanooga will present The Farm at The Beth with a financial contribution to rebuild their garden beds.

Lamar Shepherd & Sons Mulch Inc. and Hiwassee Builders Supply will provide in-kind donations to support the project.

At The Farm at The Beth, a quarter-acre urban farm tucked behind the Center in Alton Park.

Rows are being cleared, soil is being turned and seedlings are ready to take root. The farm produces fresh food for the community, supports The Bethlehem Center’s food pantry and serves as a hands-on learning space for children and families.

“These contributions come at exactly the right moment,” said Lillian Moore, director of community impact at The Beth. “Planting season is when the work truly begins. Having the resources ensures we can continue providing fresh, healthy food for our community in the months ahead.

“Beyond food production, the farm is also a place of connection where volunteers gather, children learn where food comes from and the community grows together.

“The Beth’s after-school program, Read to Lead Academy, gives children a safe place to learn after school hours.”
