A Saturday night fire displaced a family and destroyed a home near Erie in unincorporated Weld County.
Mountain View Fire Rescue crews responded to a large home on Weld County Road 12, just west of Weld County Road 5, around 10 p.m. Saturday night, to find flames flaring out of it, according to spokesperson Rick Tillery. The fire response closed Weld County Road 5 in the area until about 5 a.m. to accommodate Mountain View’s fire response equipment.
No one was reported injured, according to a Mountain View post on Facebook from Saturday night.
When the first truck got to the scene, the crew immediately started to try and put the fire out, Tillery said. More crews responded, but flames spread so quickly throughout the inside of the house that crews could not get into the home to put out the blaze, Tillery said. Crews could only hose down the flames from the outside, he said.
The home was deemed a total loss, Tillery said.
Mountain View Fire Rescue officials are investigating the blaze, he said.
