Reading receives $700K grant for redevelopment of 2 Penn Street buildings | Berks Regional News

READING, Pa. – Reading is getting a big boost to redevelop more buildings on Penn Street.

The state is giving the city $700,000 through the Pennsylvania House Finance Agency’s Community Revitalization Fund program.

The goal is to turn two vacant buildings, at 418 and 422 Penn St., into a mixed-use property, complete with 12 apartments and office space.

Reading Mayor Eddie Moran says it’s “a great win for the city and another stronger step forward for our downtown.”
