Karen Romancho Geda

OBITUARY

Karen Romancho Geda, 69, of Jefferson Township was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 11, the eve of Divine Mercy Sunday.

Born in Scranton to the late William Romancho and the late Mary Fedorka Romancho, Karen was raised in Moscow and was educated in the North Pocono schools. Following her graduation, she attended College Misericordia, earned her bachelors degree, and began her career in social work with Friendship House where she met her husband, Joseph.

After leaving Friendship House, Karen began her favorite job of all: motherhood. She devoted the most important years of her life to being a stay at home mom for her son. Her love and support for him knew no limit and for that he remains eternally grateful. When he was older, she reentered the workforce as a teller for Penn Security Bank, from where she retired after a decade of devoted service.

In retirement, she continued her greatest joys of always being there to care for her family. Her cooking and baking, her wit, her smile, and her love will live on in our hearts forever.

Karen is survived by her husband, Joseph Geda, with whom she would have celebrated 46 years of marriage at the end of this month. She is also survived by her son, Matthew Joseph.

The family wishes to thank the ER staff of Geisinger CMC, the neurosurgery department and ICU staff of Geisinger Wyoming Valley, the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, and all who contributed to the incredible and compassionate care Karen received at the end of her life.

The funeral will be Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 9:15 AM from Ferri & Gillette Funeral Services, LLC, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Prince of Peace Parish, 123 W.
