BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bethlehem City Council on Tuesday approved a grant application to support planning efforts at three city parks and adopted changes to its liquor license transfer process.

Council voted to back the city’s application to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for up to $250,000 through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program.

If awarded, the funding would be used to develop plans for Sand Island, Saucon Park and Monocacy Park.

“It’s a really exciting opportunity for us,” said Mayor J. William Reynolds.

Council also approved changes to its liquor license transfer process. The amendment increases the application fee from $200 to $500 to cover advertising and administrative costs.

Applicants will also be required to notify property owners within 500 feet of the proposed location and post notices on the property at least 10 days before council consideration.
