WHEELING, W.Va. — Local leaders are gearing up for the annual charity basketball game hosted by Bethlehem Apostolic Temple, aiming to raise funds for the Thanksgiving basket giveaway.
Bishop Darrell Cummings highlighted the increased need for assistance due to the ongoing government shutdown, stating,
“A lot of people don’t have some of the things we take for granted and homelessness is up, challenges in the community,” Bishop Darrell Cummings said. “It looks like some people are not going to get paid, so that’s adding to the need. We want to make sure that we do everything we can to not leave anybody behind.”
The game is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. at Wheeling University’s McDonough Center. Attendees are encouraged to bring a canned good or any nonperishable food item.
