The African Sisters Education Collaborative’s storytelling event highlighted inspiring narratives of building community and fostering connection.

SCRANTON, Pa. — The African Sisters Education Collaborative is hosting its 4th annual storytelling event at Marywood University.

Folks here listened as guest speakers shared personal narratives and experiences. Those stories are inspired by this year’s theme, “Building Bridges and Strengthening Communities.”

Senior Manager for Program ASEC Rosemary Shaver says, “We had a service alumni share her experience participating in service learning Kenya, in Kasarani with the Little Sisters of St. Francis. We also had Father Steven sharing about his experience in Ghana, and we had sister Kathleen Burns, who is an IHM sister and who is an instructor for our higher education for Sisters in Africa program.”

Newswatch 16’s Jack Culkin was the emcee for the storytelling event.
