On April 21 around 6:20 p.m. John Stanford 58, lost control of his motorcycle, traveled off the road to the eastern side, and struck a guardrail. Stanford was traveling northbound on Route 98 in Fairview.
After the initial collision he had continued traveling along the guardrail before striking it again. Following the second collision Stanford traveled uphill striking several trees before coming to a complete stop.
Stanford was later found face down next to the motorcycle and was transported by West County ambulance to UPMC Hamot. Unfortunately, Stanford was pronounced dead at the hospital. It was reported that Stanford was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
